Genius

From TED: "Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses -- and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person "being" a genius, all of us "have" a genius. It's a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk."

  1. Just today, I was aware of the thought that there was no blog entry in me. And I was cool with that. I was like, oh! I’m not getting a blog voice going through my noggin’ right now. Oh well. Something will come around soon. So then I go on my merry way, and sat down to the keyboard and, POW! Out it came. And I’m like: “Sh@t! Why are you coming out now? You weren’t here a minute ago, and now you are. Flippin’ what. You can’t just waltz into my life like that, without warning.” But, of course, it did. And then my fingers began to work and away I went. So first I show up for the job, and it wasn’t there, and then I went away from it, and it came to me unannounced. What now, flippin’ fairy!? What now!

“Just do your job. And ole to you anyhow.”

I am so glad to have come across this piece tonight. Thank you SO MUCH for posting it!

  2. Just what I needed today – spawning a post and more! Thanks! (Sorry, I’m not much for recipes most days.) ;)

  3. I just finished Gilbert’s latest novel, “Committed.” She’s a fabulous author, and– as you can see– an amazing inspiration. Glad you enjoyed it!
